2006 Season - Week 22
BUMSBowl X1
Congratulations to Daz who won BUMSBowl XI on the momentum rule after he drew 14 all with Mark. His kicker Adam Vinatieri was the last player to score, thus giving Daz the game winning momentum. He joins Marcus as the BUM with the most championships, they have now won the BUMSBowl 3 times each and both have lifted the Papas Fritas trophy once.
All-BUMS 2006
The voting was the most wide-open ever as 62 players and coaches received at least 1 vote to make the team. LaDainian Tomlinson was a unanimous selection, with everyone who voted making him their number 1 Running Back, except George and John who had him at 3. LT totaled 41 points as he made the All-BUMS team for the 4th straight year, 3 as a starter. Starting alongside him is Rookie Reggie Bush. A special note for Tiki Barber who in his final season gets one of the 2 reserve roles along with Larry Johnson. Marvin Harrison makes it 6 in a row (5 as a starter) as the most popular Receiver this year but that still cannot match Terrell Owens who starts for the 5th time and makes his 7th appearance overall. Peyton Manning gets his 2nd start in 3 year after also being a back-up in 2000.
Draft Order
In the same way the play-off seeding works the draft order is based on lowest to highest scorer irrespective of division. Therefore David S is on the clock while Ron will have the 16th pick. The full order is David S, Daz, Phil, AP, Chief, George, Aaron, Marcus, Dave G, Mark, Wayne, Cheryl, Andy H, Johnny, John and Ron. There will be an extra pick at the end of the 5th round for Aaron, who cut his 1st year franchise player Brad Johnson and for George who will select his first franchise player later this year. 2007-8 franchise players will be selected after the draft and most of free agency has taken place. More details later.
Superfood
As always a huge thanks to Cheryl for feeding the 8 hungry BUMS in attendance. Chicago Pizza Pie and Pork & Beans (invented in Indianapolis) – nice work.
Supergames
The BUMS know their Superbowl with 7 of the 10 playing naming the leader after each quarter correct 3 times to share that pot. Andy H and Cheryl correctly predicted the 1st scorer (Robbie Gould), while Aaron and John shared for the highest scoring team. The only outright winners were David S (half-time score) and Johnny (final score).
BUMS on Seats
The Superbowl may be over but there is one last gathering scheduled for next Sunday at 6pm as we meet at BUMS HQ to see the AFC take on the NFC in the Pro-Bowl.
